Life in the future pt97

Onyx blinked as he stepped out into the sunlight for the first time in months. He couldn't stop himself grinning as he looked around for Zara. It didn't take him long to spot her however she seemed to be having some trouble with Marie. Scowling Onyx went to help her.

Hover was pacing restlessly as everyone else gathered round Platinum. Even Matt had been unable to tell why the brown hedgehog wouldn't wake up. Hover was getting frustrated that no-one had the answer and he was furious that he'd let this happen. As the minutes ticked by Hover found himself watching everyone he'd found Platinum with as if this were somehow their fault.  The only ones who had noticed his pacing were his mother and Amy and now both of them watched him loop back on himself and start again. Finally Hover stopped by Platinum.
"Why won't you wake up?!!" he snapped.
"Hover" a weak voice croaked as one golden eye crept open "what happened?"
Hover grinned "I thought you were dead!"
"Oh" Platinum muttered softly before his eye closed again

Onyx quickly grabbed the foot that had been heading towards Zara, who was barely fighting back.
"That the best you got Marie?"
The brown hedgehog growled "stay out this Onyx my problems with her!"
Onyx narrowed his eyes "Your problem is that you can't handle not getting what you want"
Marie glared at him "she ruined everything!"
Onyx glanced behind at Zara before turning to Marie "Zara ruined our relationship when neither of us knew her?" he muttered in disbelief "Marie I think being pregnant ruined your judgement"
Marie scowled "If she wasn't here...."
"You and I would still be apart" Onyx informed her coldly "now I suggest you get back to Lucifer and your children Marie before I remember that you caused all of this"
Marie turned suddenly "fine Onyx but I'm not done yet and one day when you let your guard down I'll show you how wrong you were when we broke up!"
As she left Onyx turned to Zara and sighed "Great I can look forward to another encounter with my jealous ex-girlfriend in the future"
Zara giggled and blushed "thank you for helping me Onyx"
Onyx grinned "no problem but I thought you'd have gone to see your boyfriend"
Zara smiled "I will but you're coming with me"
Onyx rolled his eyes "fine but it's only because I need to remind him he was helpless"

Zara smiled as she leant against Onyx. It had been a week since Mephiles had vanished and since then Platinum had been recovering at Matt's. Onyx had been helping Zara deal with everything that had happened including the fact that Marie had now decided to blame everything that went wrong on her. Onyx hadn't been too excited about the idea of coming to see Platinum but he'd finally given in to Zara after two days of pleading.
"Remember I don't like your boyfriend" He muttered as they stood there.
Zara sighed "I don't know if he still is my boyfriend, after everything that happened we decided we needed to talk and maybe stop seeing each other"
Onyx grinned "well you still have me!"
The pair stopped talking as they spotted the caramel coloured hedgehog walking towards them, even from this distance they could see his shoulders slouching from exhaustion and that he was limping slightly. Zara quickly hugged him.
Platinum smiled "Hi Zara, Onyx" his eyes now moved to the grey hedgehog "I guess I owe you Onyx"
The grey hedgehog shrugged "not really. You did show up when I was trapped and you told the others about Lucifer"
Platinum grinned "I guess we're even then"
Zara smiled "you're feeling better then?"
Platinum nodded "my head's fine my voice is going though... that's what I get for calling Hover five times a day to keep him company"
Zara laughed "you two are never apart" she stopped "Zach was going to come but Lauren wanted to see him"
Onyx rolled his eyes "I wonder why?"

Inferno pushed open Lauren's door to find her with her arms round Zach.
Inferno cleared his throat and the pair broke apart blushing furiously.
Inferno scowled "I'll tell mom you're busy then"

Platinum laughed "good for him. At least we're not all stuck indoors"
Onyx rolled his eyes "I wish. My dad's been weird since we got back and it doesn't help he keep cheeking who I am every time I come back"  
Platinum glanced at Onyx "how are you dealing with being trapped for two months?"
Onyx's eyes strayed to Zara "I've had some help with it"
Platinum smiled sadly "and you've help her more than I think you know"
"Platinum!" Libra called out as he walked over "I'm glad to see you out"
Platinum grinned "you said you were leaving I wasn't staying in"
Sapphire grinned as she strolled over "we're off treasure hunting again"
Platinum smiled "good luck then"
"Bye!" Both called as they walked off.
Platinum sighed "I guess everything's turning back to normal"  
Onyx grinned "pretty much, now we only someone else to leave"
"You talk about me?"Laila called as she jumped down from her hiding place "we have score to settle"
Zara rolled her eyes and followed Platinum to a nearby fence
"I wish some things would change" she muttered
Platinum laughed "at least it's a good way to find the real Onyx"
"Hey panda you don't stand a chance against me Lucifer was easy to beat" Onyx growled.
Laila laughed "then how you lose?"
Platinum let the pair's argument blend in with other sounds in the city, smiling he turned to Zara
"Let's hope these two are as lively as it gets for a while"
Zara grinned "with Zach and Lauren dating I'm not sure"
Platinum frowned "Inferno's that bad?"
"You have no idea"
