"Ok Zach what's the plan?" Jo grinned; he knew Zach always had a plan.  
"We go in!" Hover cut in.
"We will Hover but not alone we should stay in pairs at least." Zach decided.
"Hey Nano have you got those communicators you were making?" Butter asked.
"Yeah I do and I have tracking devices that work on the map."
Zach grinned "then we may as well use your genius Nano"
Nano bushed slightly at the praise.
"Split into pairs and take the tracker and communicator then we'll decide who goes where" Zach instructed.
"Come on Platinum" Hover called grabbing the said hedgehog and pulling him over to Nano.
"I'm going with you Onyx!" Beth demanded and latched on to her half brother's arm.
Onyx looked at Jamie, Zach and Jo "help me" he mouthed as they laughed.
Kay sighed "I'll stay out here with Nano and help him with his equipment"
Butter smiled "I'll stay out her too"
Jamie nodded "well someone needs to watch the door in case whoever has Zara tries to escape so I'll do that and pair up with Butter"
Zach saw Lauren and Inferno glace at Opal and realised they were as worried about her as he was about Zara.
"Opal why don't you stay here so you can help anyone who needs it" Zach suggested.
Opal nodded and Lauren and Inferno looked relived.
Jo grinned "Well mate" he said to Zach "I regret having to tell you this but I'm leaving you for Inferno" Jo winked "After all this isn't the time for those two to be arguing who goes first, the oldest or the guy, in case it's dangerous."
After Lauren went over to Zach Jo winked again "Besides this way you two can take your time leaving after we've got Zara and get all mushy"
Zach scowled and punched Jo playfully in the arm.
Jo laughed "Mate you do not want me to hit you back!"
"Let's go already!" Hover called.
Zach sighed "If you're in such a rush Hover why don't you and Platinum go and look for a back door so no-one can escape that way?"
Hover grinned "sure beats waiting here!"
Platinum sighed and ran after the hawk.
Jo sighed in relief "At last he's gone! I couldn't stand having to search with him; he just won't slow down!"
Onyx sighed "He's still better than Beth"
"Hey!"
Onyx hissed "yeah just keep screaming in my ear because that will really make me like you"
Zach groaned "speaking of quarrelling siblings..."
Jo just laughed.
"Let's just go" Onyx muttered, taking off towards the temple.  
"Please let the two of them get stuck together" Jo muttered.
Inferno grinned "And let's take our time rescuing them!"
"Agreed" Zach replied "Find Zara, lose Beth and Onyx!"
Inside the temple there were three paths.
"Well this is convenient." Onyx muttered.
Inferno grinned "Which path will you take?"
Beth, who had been at the back, slipped slightly on the sloping ramp into the temple and immediately fell down knocking into Onyx and rolling both of them down the forwards facing path.
Zach and Jo looked at each other and shrugged.
Lauren grinned "I'm going left, it's the nearest!"
Inferno laughed "then I choose right!"
Jo started walking "you mean we got stuck with going right!"

Onyx and Beth's rolling was stopped when they hit a wall.
"Ouch!" Onyx snarled as he rubbed his head "we'd better find Zara quickly Beth or I might be tempted to misplace you on the way."
Beth ignored Onyx and flew over his head. The grey hedgehog groaned and followed her, making a note that the torches on the wall were all lit and seemed new. The pair didn't get very far before Onyx noticed markings on the wall.  
"wait a minute Beth I want to look at these" Onyx explained as he moved closer. It was then that the floor disappeared.
Beth barely had time to cry "Onyx" before her bother vanished and the floor went back to normal.
"Oh no" Beth muttered as she pulled out her communicator.

"Guys we have a problem" Beth voice came through the communicators.
"What is it Beth?" Nano asked from the control point.
"Onyx has just fallen through the floor"
"Then fly down and get him!" Hover cried into his communicator.
"I can't" Beth wailed "the floor closed over on him!"
"It's ok Beth" Kay said taking charge "Onyx has his emerald so he'll probably come back himself so stay there. As for everyone else we probably should have guessed a place like this would be filled with traps so be careful."
"We will" Lauren chimed.
"Watch the floor, got it" Inferno teased.
"Ha no trap will get me" Hover bragged.
"I'll watch Hover" Platinum sighed.
"Did you really need to use the communicator Kay? We're only a meter away" Jamie and Butter muttered.
"I'll remember" Opal said softly.

Onyx growled as he landed hard. It was pitch black down here and Onyx couldn't see anything. His keen ears picked up something behind him and the grey hedgehog spun round and knocked his attacker backwards. He then did the same to something else on the other side. As his eyes adjusted to the new light he realised they were very identical looking hedgehogs.
"Who are you?" he snarled.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" one snickered.
"Well he clearly does Nitro that's why he just asked!" the other replied.  
"What? I thought I told you not to speak!" the one Onyx now knew was Nitro exploded.
"Sorry" the other muttered.
"well it's no good now!" Nitro cleared his throat and turned to Onyx "I am Nitro, the esteemed creation of Doctor Eggman and that's Hydro, the dysfunction one"
Hydro waved at Onyx "hi! What's your name?"
Nitro stood there open mouthed "we're not here to make friends!"  
Hydro frowned "I know that but we told him our names so I was only being polite."
Nitro groaned "You're supposed to be evil, a weapon, not polite!"
Onyx looked at Nitro with what was almost sympathy.
Nitro ignored him "why? Why am I stuck with you?"
Hydro shrugged, Nitro growled "Just grab that hedgehog!"
Onyx smirked "Not likely!" he pulled out his emerald and attacked.

"What's going on?" Lauren cried as the temple shook.
Zach turned round to look at her as the floor turned into a ramp. Lauren screamed as she slid down. As she passed him Zach grabbed her and pulled her closer as they slid further down to the bottom where a door dropped down and sealed them in.

Nano stared at the tracker screen with alarm.
"The trackers are offline!"
Kay sighed "well we have just had an earthquake! Give them a minute."  
It appeared Kay was right as the tracker dot came back...well all of them but two.

Jo scowled as he heard Nano from the communicator. The earthquake had resulted on his and Inferno colliding and the hedgehog's quills were in his face.  
"Lauren and Zach's trackers aren't responding!" the worried voice of Nano came through.
"What?" Inferno cried.
From their end Kay and Nano heard the sounds of people moving around then Jo's voice.
"You had to mention that"
Nano laughed nervously "Butter, Jamie and Opal are going in to look for them"
"They better find them" Inferno muttered.

Zach landed with a thud as his fifth attempt to break the door down failed.
"Give up" Lauren cried from where she was slouched on the floor. Zach sighed and simply pulled her into a hug. At the feel of Zach Lauren burst into tears.  
"We're never getting out are we Zach?"

"Tell me your little friends aren't in there"
Nano jumped in shock at the voice and found Matt standing behind him.
"they need to get out" Matt instructed pointing at the door.
Nano was horrified, the door had moved since they got there.
"the earthquake" he whispered as he grabbed the communicator.
Nano's voice came through the communicators again.
"Kay and I have just notice the door has move so you'll need to run for it if there's another earthquake"  
"Not good enough!" Matt snarled "get them out!"
"Got it" everyone replied just as the ground started to shake.
Matt sighed "too late"

Butter wasn't far from the door and quickly spun on heel and raced towards it. She hovered beneath it, waiting for the others. Kay growled and raced over to her as he saw the door slide. In one quick movement he grabbed Butter and jerked backwards so hard that they landed in a pile, the door landing just a cm behind Butter's tail. Nano looked round in horror. The others were trapped!
